I have heard of people making lots of money on eBay by buying and re-selling items. My question is does this actually work very well? What kind of things do you well and where do you get them? any advice on this subject would be appreciated.

My family makes $300,000 a year off of Ebay (seriously). You have to find a product that everyone needs, find a good supplier, and there you are. The problem is that the market is so swamped right now and it’s highly competitive. Get creative. Importing goods is a lot cheaper but you will have to come up with a lot of cash up front.

I don’t make the kind of money the other poster does, but I make several hundred dollars a month selling, what I call, stuff, but goes in the category of ‘collectibles’. Most of the stuff I sell I either have around the house, find at yard sells for under a dollar or free, or I just find it! A few months ago, I found 20 years of old Sci-Fi magazines in a dumpster, took them home and made over $450. I have a link to a squidoo lens in my profile on how and why I like selling collectibles and how to get the highest price.

I sell on eBay part-time (just a few hours a week), and pull in about $400 a month! The key is to find your niche, understand your buyers, find cheap inventory, and provide great customer service. Since this is only a part-time job for me, I generally sell items that I find in thrift stores and on clearance in department stores.
Here’s an article that talks about the types of buyers, what they buy, and how to market sales:
Good luck (and have fun)!
